Install the Nivora Excel add-in
The add-in opens any Nivora deal in Excel as a live model — edit named inputs in the sheet, push changes back to the platform, and pull the latest saved deal into the workbook. It also registers the =NIVORA.IRR and =NIVORA.NPV functions for use in any cell. It runs in Excel for Windows, Excel for Mac, and Excel on the web.
Requirements
A Microsoft 365 Excel that supports Office add-ins (Windows, Mac, or Excel on the web) and a Nivora account. If your organization enforces two-factor authentication, the pane walks you through the emailed verification code on first sign-in.
Option 1 — Through your organization (recommended)
If your Microsoft 365 administrator has deployed Nivora for your organization, no install is needed:
- In Excel, choose Insert → Add-ins (on some versions: Home → Add-ins).
- Open the Admin Managed section.
- Select Nivora → Add. The Nivora button appears on the Home tab.
Administrators: deployment takes a few minutes in the Microsoft 365 admin center (Settings → Integrated apps → Upload custom apps) using the manifest linked below — Nivora can walk your IT team through it.
Option 2 — From the Office Add-ins store
The Nivora listing on Microsoft AppSource is in progress. Once live, you will find it in Excel under Insert → Add-ins → Store by searching for “Nivora.” Until then, use one of the other options on this page.
Option 3 — Manual install (works today)
First, download the manifest file: nivora-addin-manifest.xml. Then follow the path for your Excel:
Excel for Mac (there is no “Upload My Add-in” button on Mac):
- Quit Excel completely. In Finder, press Cmd+Shift+G and go to ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Documents/wef (create the wef folder if it doesn’t exist).
- Move the downloaded manifest into that folder and reopen Excel — it scans the folder at launch.
- In any workbook: Home → Add-ins → Nivora (under Developer Add-ins).
Excel for Windows (desktop):
- Put the manifest in a folder (e.g. C:\NivoraAddin), share the folder (Properties → Sharing → Advanced Sharing), and copy its network path (\\YOUR-PC\NivoraAddin).
- In Excel: File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Add-in Catalogs — paste the network path, Add catalog, and tick Show in Menu.
- Fully quit and reopen Excel, then Insert → My Add-ins → Shared Folder → Nivora → Add.
Excel on the web: open a workbook at office.com, then Home → Add-ins → More Add-ins → My Add-ins → Upload My Add-in and pick the manifest.
Installing a newer manifest the same way upgrades the add-in in place — it keeps its identity, so nothing needs to be removed first. Signed-in users also have an illustrated step-by-step walkthrough in the in-app Help Center (the ? button in the app).
Sign in and open a deal
- Click the Nivora button on the Home tab to open the task pane.
- Sign in with your Nivora email and password (plus the emailed verification code if your organization enforces two-factor authentication).
- Pick a deal → Open in Excel. A new workbook opens with the full model — cover, summary, pro forma, waterfall.
- Edit named inputs in the sheet, then Push to Nivora to save — or Pull to bring down the latest saved deal.
Troubleshooting
The pane is blank. Close and reopen the pane. If it stays blank, your network may block appsforoffice.microsoft.com (Microsoft’s Office.js CDN) — ask IT to allow it.
Sign-in succeeds but the deal list is empty. Your session may be missing two-factor verification — sign out and back in, completing the emailed code step. If it persists, your organization admin can confirm your access.
Push says the deal is stale. Someone else edited the deal since your last sync. Push again — non-overlapping edits merge automatically and any same-field conflicts are listed in the pane.
The pane also has a Run diagnostics button (visible even when signed out) that checks Office initialization, sheet access, and your session, and produces a copyable report — include it when contacting support.
